Medical Office Assistant

I am working as an MOA but the office environment there is somewhat toxic. I don't know if it's because we are mostly women (except for the drs who are mostly men). I am also not so happy about the wages. What has been most people's experience about working as an MOA? Will I only get a fair wage if I found work at a hospital or after 10 years?? I like my job just not the pay or environment!

 

Ranges widely depending on the clinic (size of office, scope of duties, personalities of doctors and other MOAs).

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you making and what makes the environment toxic?

 

There is a lot of gossiping, talking behind peoples' backs, withholding information making it difficult to do a job, hunting down and questioning people when they make a mistake instead of trying to fix the problem. Get the picture?

Sounds like all jobs to some extent . Background wise, I get some minor exposure to medical clinics as a student but I don't really know the logistics and flow of things. Some MOAs appear to have very good working relationships with the docs while others obviously do not.

The office politics and gossip, are they coming from the doctors primarily or the other MOAs? If it's the latter, then maybe you can find a position where you run the show alone.
