FYI: New active posting for 3 "Temp" Farebox Attendants; $21.35 hr; "Day shifts" sorts the cash; "Evenings/Night shifts" actually empty the fareboxes as the buses finish up their day.

I'm pretty sure a valid drivers license is a requirement.

Congrats on passing the medical! The next step should be a check on your driving record again and a documentation meeting. You are almost there!

As a casual, it is hard to get full-time hours unless you sign up for the All Day Pool, and even then, there are no guarantees. It's also kind of hard to get a full-time position right away after you finish training... It all depends on how many positions are available.

FYI: "Temps" earn an extra 14% in lieu of benefits. That can really add up on the pay checks!

The posting for Shuttle appears to be gone at this time.

    Lots of other opportunities posted.

Already got a class #4? HandyDART continues to need more PT Drivers!

Shuttle training is 9 days, mostly out in Port Coquitlam.

I never did Shuttle Training; but about 3 or 4 regulars here have, and should chime in.

Try to relax a little; have some fun.

I would think you'd get trained with like 5 or 6 other trainees.

FYI: The posting for more Conventional Op Trainees was re-posted again as of this date, with the new April 2017 wages listed. Training wage is now $22.13 an hour, with top rate listed as $31.62. We're due for another (minor 0.5%) raise Feb 1.

They have updated their posting again. Still no good news for me. How long does it usually take before they contact you? How would I know if I got shortlisted?

It's really hard to tell, but from the current hiring status, the company should process relatively fast... just make sure you check your email daily...

Not quite sure what to tell you; for some the process can take m-o-n-t-h-s-. I would think they must be holding video testing fairly regularly. Like every month or two they must be doing the video test.

Have you received any emails? Maybe follow up with HR?

It was nearly 30 years ago for me, and I was already working for the company; and it took me like 5 months to go thru the process to get a training date.

If you haven't already read it, there is detailed info about the hiring process, and wages, and FAQ's over at www.translink.ca/careers and THEN "BUS OPERATOR OPPORTUNITIES".

Don't get discouraged; the process can be slow for some. I've known a few who were caught up in the budget crunch of 2013; and it took the better part of 2 years to finally get hired.

If you have any free time: I'd recommend brushing up on the air brakes system; maybe google pre trip inspections; maybe go out and ride evening city trolley routes; familiarize yourself with the fare structure; the zones; when the zones apply; who qualifies for Concession fares.

    Best of luck!

I have read the detailed info about the hiring process. I will read more about the air brakes system and pre trip inspections. Haha I've been riding the bus since I was a baby. Very familiar with the fare structure, who qualifies for Concession fares, the zones, and when the zones apply. I also remember many bus routes by heart. Like which streets they run on, full bus routes from one terminus to the other, and which buses to take to get to places. I love buses and the transit network here. Always wanted to be a bus driver since I was a kid! Thank you Superchecker!!

Congrats! The Port Coquitlam depot should have the most work available, so try working there for the most hours.
