We got a raise as of April 1! Extra 1.3% per hour!

Most of the bigger depots have now signed for April 24th sheet change. A couple of the smaller depots sign starting Monday.

TransLink has now posted the list of Spring Service changes on their website.

Look for more improvements late June and early Sept.

Hello! Welcome! There are a few Shuttle Ops who pop in here every few days and should be able to give you a better answer than me.

I believe Shuttle Ops must be available at least 4 days per 2 week pay period. Casuals often get called in at the last minute to cover work.

Training is 9 days long, and I believe most of that is out in Port Coquitlam. Unless things have changed since Hamilton opened.

I would highly recommend going out and actually riding a few shuttle routes, most drivers are pretty chatty.

PS: There are many older posts on previous pages if you want to scan back 30-40 pages to check for answers to some of your questions. Best of luck!

Hi! I used to be a Shuttle driver last year. What Superchecker said was correct: you must be available to work at least 4 days per 2 weeks. You can request to work more hours, but there are no guarantees. Within the casuals, there is an ADP (All Day Pool) option where you can sign up and the dispatch office will assign work to ADP drivers before the regular casuals. I never did ADP but I've heard from people that you can almost get full-time hours that way. The downside with all casual work is that you can't select a specific route you want to drive, only the time frame and the depot(s) you wish to work out of.

I strongly suggest that once you finish training, you apply for a reduced(part) or full-time position for a regular work schedule, benefits, and a seniority number. I was in Shuttle for about a year and it was a great way to learn the routes and how to be a transit bus driver, but on a smaller scale. I hope the training goes well for you and please keep us updated! :)

FYI: For those who don't already know: Brand new buses get set up and ready for service out at RTC (Richmond); and there are a bunch of brand new Community Shuttles, as well as some brand new artic's with "B's" on them for Burnaby getting worked on this week.

I applied to the Conventional Transit Operator Trainee (Bus Driver) position a couple weeks ago. I see that they have updated their posting once again. I've also noticed the Job ID is different. Do they still review applications received from their old posting or does that mean I didn't make it?

    Thank you Superchecker!

    Hello, welcome!

One of the reasons they update the postings is for those who are reapplying after waiting the 6/12 months from when they last went thru to hiring process.

You don't need to reapply, unless you never got a confirmation the first time.

Well perhaps third times a charm! After applying to CMBC for a few years now and getting only to the panel stage it looks much better now :)
I recently passed the road test and now it's onto the next stage. Although I am not "there" just yet I am starting to get very excited!

Thank you Superchecker for all the information in this forum and my apologies for asking questions before that can all be found within these pages. I must of read all 102 pages over at least three times. Pretty much everything you want to know about the process is all right here.

    Fingers crossed ;)
