Re-posted again as of today's date. The reason they keep re-posting every couple of weeks is for those who have applied before, and didn't make it thru the hiring process can re-apply after waiting either 6 months or 12 months.

How's everyone doing? It's been a couple months out of class for me and it's going well for the most part. I can't wait for the next sign up and trying some different routes.

I see a lot of new trainees and training vehicles these days! Best of luck to everyone.

Yeah, the long sheets can be killers. I couldn't holiday block, so I day off blocked for some variety. I think others still 7 or 8 weeks left!

Hearing about a few more guys about tho retire this spring, so there should be some movement. Also CMBC is gearing up to add more service, particularly in September.

I prefer some variety in my schedule so I think I'll try holiday blocking next sheet if I can get some decent work I like. I know this is not possible, but it would be great if there was a way to stay in one depot but try work in another depot for like a week here and there, just for more variety!

Just an observation, I ordered some uniform items on the 23rd and it arrived today at Hamilton ready for pickup. Didn't expect it so quickly.

Hello! Just wondering out loud How is Shuttle treating you? Are you liking PT hours? can you request particular hours or locations?

Being a casual in shuttle is great for its flexibility and "lower stress environment". However it's not great if it's your only source of income because you're not going to get full time hours on a consistent basis unless you're on the all day pool (which can fill up so no guarantees there). You do get to choose your preference of hours and depots, but being picky will severely hurt your hours. I do like the fact that I am getting familiar with driving all over the lower mainland and that I drive quite a variety of routes, but if I were to do it again I would have started with conventional just to have consistency and a seniority number from the get go.

Thanks for the reply! We didn't have shuttle as an option way back when I started. Glad to know it works for some.

Hi Gang! Just a reminder that Sign Up for Spring sheet is coming up soon! It' starts March 27 at the bigger depots, and a week (or two) later at the smaller depots.

The Spring, and Summer, sheets are shorter, like only 10 weeks long each, or similar.

The Spring sheet runs late April thru late June. The Summer sheet late June til Labour Day weekend.

The "BIG" system wide Consolidated sign up, for the September sheet change, starts mid July and takes at least 4 weeks to complete.

Also during that BIG Consolidated Sign Up: You will be asked about your intentions for 2018. Would you like to Bank 0, 1 or 2 weeks worth of Stat holidays? Would you like to bank 0, 5 or 10 days worth of Overtime in 2018? If you have over 20 years of service in: You then have the annual option of taking one weeks worth (5 days) of vacation as a whole week OR as 5 individual random days. You get asked these questions every Summer for the following year. And can change your preferences every year. If you are looking at LAST choice in vacation time, I would highly recommend NOT banking your stats; and consider banking at least a weeks worth of Overtime to take time off in nicer weather/make long weekends. Personally: I would generally try and work most long weekends, BUT then make my own long weekend on the next or previous weekend.

For Conventional Op's: IF you are supposed to be working when it's your sign up time: The depot is supposed to arrange a Sign Up Relief to allow you time to go to the depot and sign.
