I'm looking for some recommendations near downtown.

Yes, try Re-Up barbecue. It's right in front of the Olympic countdown clock on Hornby. Very good!

The whole thing seems rather unorganized. Are all the selected food vendors open yet?

I hear that the owners of Ragazzi Pizza (place by Renfrew and 22nd) has a stand or cart. It's premium pizza (but good) and not very filling unless you get multiples.

Definitely interested in others opinions because I will be there on business next week.

Japadog is awesome! located on Burrard and Smithe. I was just looking it up for the other restaurant they opened and found out they have many other locations! http://www.japadog.com/

Burrad and Smithe St / Stand
Burrard and Pender St / Stand
    530 Robson St / Store
In front of Waterfront Station / Stand

I recommend the terimayo, but others are a must try!

Japadog is awesome (once in awhile) but is hardly new :p.

So far this new street foot vendor thing has been rather unorganized. Does anyone know which carts are actually up and running?

    I've found the following:

Chez la Carrotte Sauvage - Main and Terminal

Chinese Skewer King - Burrard and Hastings (http://www.chineseskewerking.ca/)

PanDa Fresh Bakery - Drake and Pacific

Ragazzi Pizza Company - Burrard between Pender and Hastings

Re-Up BBQ Food Cart - Hornby and Georgia

Satay King - Burrard and Davie

Roaming Dragon - ? multiple of locations

I've never had Japadog lol EVER. Thanks though, I haven't seen any but that's because I haven't gone downtown in a while.

^Kimono Koi Crepes look like it'll be an alternative to Bon Crepe (part of the pocky store on robson).

Nice blog, what are your personal recommendations (value, quality, etc)?

No way... What happened? I never got to try it but it seemed very promising. Their website is still up with no information about it being closed. http://www.chineseskewerking.ca/

Yea...I didn't get a chance to try it neither...it was on my list...

From what my husband and one of the local street vendors said, apparently, their cart is up for sale on craigslist.

Used my $1 Re-Up BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich coupon from GoodNews :). A girl ahead of me in the line up had a DSLR and posed with the Re-Up staff, I wonder which one of the local food bloggers it is.

The picture is misleading, there's more meat than coleslaw.

Anytime you introduce committees, there's going to be a bias. Anyone remember the huge criticisms of the city's selection process last year? The process should really be restricted to a safety/health inspection and then left up to the free market to dictate who succeeds.
