Has anyone seen the Satan statue on Clark Dr At E 5th/4th ave???

 

... for real? a statue of the devil? you can't be serious!

 

Well, Idi Amin once said that he was actually going to put up a statue of Adolf Hitler in the capital city of Uganda. And while I do not believe that Satan ever existed, no human in history was a truer personification of what Satan is supposed to be.

 

Is it any different or offensive than an angel statue? Or Hindu God?

 

To conservative Christians it is very offensive. But then again, their conservative Christianity is very offensive to me! Frankly, I consider this whole hoo-haa about that stupid statue a waste of my time. But I see why it was done. That statue was put up to annoy Christians. And I love seeing Christian fundamentalists get offended by blasphemy, just as I love seeing Islamic jihadi terrorists get shot dead.

A Hindu god in a Canadian public square? This is taking multiculturalism too far. First liberals protest explicitly Christian items in public arenas, but then they shove a minority value upon the public? I can understand something from First Nations cultures because Canada was taken from them. But Hindu deities have no business in Canadian parks.

Am I myself a Hindu? Only in the sense that a non-practising Jew who marrkes a shiksa ( a gentile woman ) and frankly doesn't care about Israel and Judaism is still Jewish by blood. I enjoy a bit of Indian food and music, but nah....I am basically western. Don't care for the past.

 

Funny, this statue came to mind the other day too....something in the 'air'.
